Who We Are

The Liberty Cap Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to fostering curiosity, community, and preserving cultural heritage through traditional and emerging technologies.

Founded in 2008, by Walter J. Husak, a legendary champion of the large American cent, the Foundation aims to carry on his spirit and belief in making cultural heritage objects accessible to all. To that end, the LCF offers educational resources, authors publications, and creates content intended to spark joy and curiosity among the numismatic community and beyond. Follow us on our journey as we grow and continue to bring the study of coins into the 21st century.

OUR CORE BELIEFS

OUR CORE BELIEFS

Accessibility

We encourage curiosity and knowledge-building by making coins and other cultural heritage materials accessible to all through traditional and emerging technologies.

Support

We offer funding so that everyone can learn about our past through cultural heritage — and help shape our future. We believe that who we are comes from who we were, and cultural artifacts offer concrete ways to engage our past, with an eye to our present.

Community

Building and sharing community is a key part of knowledge, study, and living a curious life.
